Work based learning

Training to fit around the needs of each learner and their respective workplace.

Work based learning

Normally we work strategically with each client’s Learning and Development Manager to agree the type of programme that will be most suitable for each staff team. This discussion can cover just a number of locations or be part of a national training and development plan for the client. We will explore which/how many of our three strands above can be most beneficial and formulate the plan.

For work-based learning we will discuss availability of any government funding to support delivery of accredited qualification programmes (e.g. Apprenticeships) and help you maximise your training budget. We provide templates to assist the gathering of details for a first level funding eligibility check and to help us prepare to meet each candidate. We then agree timeframes for sign up at each location identified by the employer.

We have a dedicated team who visit each identified location to work with nominated learners, checking their eligibility and enrolling them onto the appropriate programme. This sign up session is a friendly mix of one to one and small group sessions to impart information about the STARS Choices training programmes and to help learners to discover the best programme for them. During the session we use discussion and friendly assessments to ascertain current qualifications, skills and experience- many learners find this quite a relaxed and enjoyable session, and of course it helps us to formulate each individual learning plan. This visit also gives us the opportunity to learn about each location, getting to know the Manager and generally find out how we can best fit training around the needs of each learner and their respective workplace.

Equipped with our "Introduction to Your Programme", many NTQUK learners are keen to complete some of the straightforward knowledge study packs, with our trained learner support officers offering remote support. Our Local Training Coordinator can then time their visits for observations/knowledge/assessments at the optimum time for each learner and for their workplace.
